Are you a passionate and experienced educator with expertise in primary science, looking to inspire the next generation of teachers?

We are seeking a suitably qualified and experienced applicant to join our Initial Teacher Education (ITE) Primary Science and Education Studies team at the University of Brighton. In this fixed-term, Part-time role (0.4 Full time equivalent) based at our Falmer campus, you will join a collaborative and supportive team committed to delivering high-quality teaching and an excellent student experience.

Our ITE Primary Science and Education Studies provision is highly regarded, with strong student outcomes and a clear commitment to inclusive, practice-informed learning. You will play a key role in shaping the learning of trainee teachers and education students across both subject-specific and wider education provision.

Your role will include:

Delivering engaging lectures, seminars and workshops across ITE Primary Science and Education Studies provisionContributing to assessment and academic supportSupporting students in school-based training and professional learningContributing to curriculum development and course reviewWorking collaboratively with colleagues and partner schools

Where possible, we align responsibilities with your strengths and interests.

We particularly welcome applications from those able to contribute to Early Years and Key Stage 1 provision. The role includes teaching across undergraduate, postgraduate and work-related programmes delivered year-round, including some evening and Saturday activity.

We’re looking for a colleague who has:

A relevant postgraduate qualification or equivalent professional experienceQualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent qualificationSignificant primary experience, with particular expertise in primary scienceExperience of supporting trainee teachers or contributing to ITE Primary Science and Education Studies provision (or extensive relevant experience)A strong commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion
