Applications are invited for the above research position to join the Power Electronics, Machines and Drives Research Group at the University of Nottingham.   The PEMC group has undergone a significant period of growth and now has over 150 members, with 18 academics (including 7 full professors) and approximately 120 PhD students and post-doctoral research fellows.  The group has excellent facilities for experimental work including approximately 2500m2 of research space and a construction and testing capability up to 5MW.

The successful candidate will support research in innovative high-speed magnetic bearing for net zero transportation applications. In particular, the role holder will support the hardware development of the magnetic bearing controller.

Candidates should hold or be shortly due to obtain a Degree (First-Class would be desirable) in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Motor Drives systems or a very closely related topic:

Hardware experience in power electronics and motor drivesExtensive practical experience in power electronics development at product levelGood knowledge of WBG power electronic devices

Good research methodology, communication skills and the ability to work in a team are essential. The successful candidate will be expected to liaise with industrial partners, prepare and present reports and disseminate results of their work through academic publications and presentations.
