Description :

The Department of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Bath is seeking to appoint a full time (36.5 hours per week) Teaching Fellow or Lecturer(Assistant Professor) on a fixed-term basis for up to 12 months, with an ideal start date of 2 September 2019. This is primarily a teaching position with the opportunity to demonstrate research capability in the area of Systems Engineering. In this context systems engineering is defined as thermal or dynamic systems. The successful applicant will have a PhD, or experience gained through extensive industrial or professional practice, or in a related subject area with postdoctoral experience in systems engineering, and some experience in supporting undergraduate teaching.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is considering an academic career and wishes to experience the environment before making a decision. The successful candidate will be encouraged to pursue research with one of the Department’s research groupings.

Applications must include a CV and a two page statement of their approach to teaching, any relevant experience and the areas of research they would like to follow.

The Department of Mechanical Engineering holds a Silver Award for the Athena SWAN scheme, which promotes gender equality among all disciplines. We particularly encourage applications from under-represented groups.
