Applications are invited for the position of Assistant Professor in Film and Television Studies within the School of Cultures, Languages and Area Studies. The role is based in the Department of Cultural, Media and Visual Studies, one of the largest departments of its kind in the UK.

In this role you will lead and deliver individual and collaborative research and teaching in the area of film and television studies, make a contribution to the direction of research programmes for the School and be responsible for generating new intellectual understanding/knowledge through the application of knowledge as well as developing ideas for application of research and teaching outcomes.

You will develop new concepts and ideas and will be expected, where appropriate, to develop and win support for innovative research and/or teaching development proposals and funding bids.   

You will make a significant contribution to the academic unit via leadership and/or administrative management and/or co-ordination of specific initiatives.

The successful candidate will hold a PhD in Film and Television Studies or a related field.

This position is a full-time permanent post, available from 1 September 2019. Job share arrangements may be considered.
