Research Associate / Fellow (Part-time, Fixed term) (MED169619)

We are seeking to appoint a researcher to join the Psychological support for Emotional problems around Multiple Sclerosis diagnosis (PrEliMS) research project. This is an MS Society funded project that aims to develop an intervention to support individuals around the point of Multiple Sclerosis diagnosis.  The purpose of this role will be to have specific responsibility for coordinating the study, data collection and analysis, and preparing the manuscripts for publication.  In addition, the post-holder is required to support the development of research proposals related to the PrEliMS project.

The successful candidate will be expected to plan and conduct work using approaches or methodologies and techniques appropriate to the type of research and will be responsible for writing up work for publication.  

Candidates must hold a PhD (or be close to completing a PhD) in Psychology or related field, and an understanding of the principles of clinical trials for complex interventions, as well as excellent interpersonal skills.  The ability to work well and communicate within a team are essential. Broader experience of working with people living with multiple sclerosis will be an advantage. We are looking for someone who can demonstrate personal enthusiasm and commitment to the subject area.

The post will be offered on a part-time, 7.25 hours per week, fixed-term basis until the 29 February 2020.
