CAMERA Research Assistant (Fixed Term) in Visual Computing

We are looking for a highly motivated individual to work within the Centre for the Analysis of Motion, Entertainment Research and Applications (CAMERA). CAMERA is a thriving EPSRC funded research centre based at the University of Bath. The aim is to create research impact in the areas of Entertainment, Human Performance Enhancement (e.g. Sport and Training) and Assistive Technologies (e.g. Health). CAMERA has several existing world-class partners across Entertainment, Sport and Health, including: The Imaginarium, The Foundry, The Ministry of Defence (MoD), British Maritime Technologies (BMT) and British Skeleton.

The core themes of the group's research are applying Machine Learning techniques to solve problems in Computer Vision and Computer Graphics. The post holder will work on a  project that builds upon our recent work utilising motion capture based data.

The position will be part of the new CAMERA centre that has a world-class production standard motion-capture studio, including a range of full body and facial Vicon optical capture systems and multi-camera 4K arrays. In this post, we are looking for a highly skilled and motivated computer vision/graphics researcher not only to work on the specific intelligent tools project, but also function as part of this wider effort to look at new technologies for motion capture and its application to the creative industries, sport science and health.

You will join the vibrant Visual Computing and Machine Learning group at Bath which comprises around 30 doctoral students, 10 post-doctoral researchers and 8 academics and presents many opportunities for collaborative work and shared publications. In addition to the standard duties of performing research and dissemination through publications (e.g. SIGGRAPH/CVPR), the candidate will also be involved in the supervision of PhD students and have some teaching duties at undergraduate or graduate level.

Both the Department and the University are committed to providing a supportive and inclusive working environment. We are working to improve the present gender balance within the Department, and particularly welcome applications from women.

This is a fixed term position with fixed end date of 31/05/2020.
