Description :

The University of Lincoln is an ambitious and fast-growing academic community.  Although established within the last twenty years, it already ranks among the Top 50 Universities in the UK (43rd in Complete University Guide 2019).

The School of History and Heritage forms part of the College of Arts, the largest College in the University, and is located at the University’s main Brayford campus beside a natural pool in the River Witham. The School has a growing portfolio of subjects to add to its well-established History and Conservation programmes, and has in recent years launched Philosopy, Art History and History, and Classical Studies BA courses.

An opportunity now exists for an historian of 19th to 21st century America (post-1861) to join the School.  Our ideal candidate will be an outstanding HE teacher. He or she will play a key role in the delivery of the first year of our BA programme in American Studies, as well as contributing to the BA History. The successful candidate will also be expected to support the administration of the new American Studies programme. An openness to interdisciplinary approaches to American history may be an advantage as successful candidates will have the opportunity to shape the new programme.

The successful candidate will join a thriving, friendly School with a strong collaborative culture. We take teaching and student experience very seriously, and in the latest NSS the History programme performed well.

This is a full-time (1.0FTE) 9 month position offering employment from 2 September 2019. The successful candidate will contribute to L1 teaching for the new BA American Studies and BA History and to core module teaching at other levels.

Please direct any enquiries in the first instance to the Acting Head of School, Dr Kate Hill (khill@lincoln.ac.uk)
