Are you an experienced post-doc looking for an opportunity to transition to independence? Would you like to join a dynamic and highly motivated multi-disciplinary team in a World-leading cancer research centre?
If so, please apply for this unique opportunity to become a Research Fellow linking laboratory and clinical research in oesophageal cancer. The post-holder will work with Professor Tim Underwood and his team, in the Somers Cancer Research Building at University Hospital Southampton. The successful applicant will help deliver a Cancer Research UK funded Fellowship exploring the ecosystem of oesophageal cancer using single cell RNA sequencing and multi-cellular organoid models. The project will involve a wide range of cell and molecular biology techniques and computational skills. Personal development will be actively supported and attendance for courses and training encouraged.
The post-holder will be expected to demonstrate independence commensurate with a senior post-doctoral scientist, including design and delivery of project components, manuscript preparation and leadership of bids for continuing funding.
Applicants should have a PhD, with experience of laboratory research and knowledge of cell and molecular biology. They should be able to work independently and will be expected to supervise undergraduate and postgraduate students. The successful applicant will be encouraged to develop an application for potential further funding.
