Placements Officer (fixed term) (JB6876)

The School of Management at the University of Bath is ranked among the top UK business schools, with a renowned reputation for business education and international research.

We wish to appoint a Placements Officer to work with our BSc Management and BSc Management with Marketing 12 month placement schemes.

The post-holder will form part of the School of Management’s Placements Team, taking responsibility for the BSc Management and BSc Management with Marketing placement schemes.

The 4 year programmes include a third year being spent on placement within a company. The post involves the organisation of the placement year for students in full-time work.

The post-holder will form part of the School of Management’s Placements Team, ensuring that services are efficient, effective and adapt to changing circumstances. The role has daily line management from the School’s Placements Manager, and the wider team work together under the guidance of the Head of Placements, Projects and International Studies. The post-holder will also work closely with other Undergraduate Placements Officers, plus the Director of Studies who will guide on academic issues.

The role involves account-managing companies, developing placement opportunities, managing students and employer recruitment processes, preparing students, delivering a Professional Development Programme, developing common systems and standardised processes on best practice and ensuring that relevant country legislation, University regulations and procedures are adhered to.

This is a busy and varied role involving daily communication with academic staff, students and current/potential employers. The post-holder will need to have excellent organisational skills, demonstrate a good use of initiative, have the ability to multi-task and prioritise. A strong interest and understanding of global working practices and higher education institutions is required.  Diplomacy, tact and cultural awareness are key to developing strong links that will provide placements in the UK and around the world.

This post is fixed-term to cover maternity leave until May 2020 or the early return of the current post-holder, whichever is the sooner. We are open to this being on a part time/job share basis.
