The post holder will be involved in hands-on support across the Faculty such as the collection and processing of biological waste from teaching and research laboratories, setting-out and clearing up materials for student practical classes, running glass washers, operating media/waste autoclaves and monitoring waste disposal practices in laboratory areas.
You will work as part of a dedicated team; liaising with the laboratory managers and technicians as well as the Health & Safety team to ensure smooth, safe and efficient support of the labs.
This role will require significant manual handling, being able to respond quickly to changing circumstances, a basic understanding of Health & Safety and a good level of customer service. It is an ideal introduction for anyone considering a career in lab support/services and full training will be given on the relevant aspects of lab safety, chemical handling and biosafety involved.
