SENIOR LECTURER/READER IN CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGY

We have an exciting opening for a Senior Lecturer/Reader to join the Clinical Psychology Doctoral Team under the leadership of Mary John. The current team are a welcoming, innovative and cohesive group with a wide variety of research interests and expertise in training. The PsychD Programme in Clinical Psychology is based in the School of Psychology of the University of Surrey which has an outstanding reputation for applied psychology training and research.

We seek to appoint an international leader in Clinical Psychology who will join a School and Faculty with research ambition and a drive to have real impact in the world. We welcome applications from people working in all discipline areas of Clinical Psychology, Health Psychology, Community Psychology and mental health/distress more generally. We are particularly interested in people whose work focuses on developing creative and novel research methodologies which are underpinned by a comprehensive understanding of theory. Expertise in qualitative methods in addition to other research approaches would be highly valuable.

Within the Clinical Psychology Team/Department of Psychological Interventions at the University of Surrey we have established areas of research expertise in the following:

Distress Drugs, Alcohol and Addictive Behaviours Mindfulness Psychosocial Interventions Self, Identity and the Lived Experiences

We would therefore be keen to hear from individuals that can strengthen one or more of our existing areas or come with ambition and vision to develop our expertise portfolio in a new area.

You will be joining a vibrant Department with an active research culture and a clear remit to develop and extend the reach of Clinical Psychological research. As a small department we are keen to appoint someone that works well as a member of a team, is passionate about helping develop the research capabilities of our Clinical Trainees and is motivated to supervise doctoral projects to the best possible standard. We are looking for highly motivated people with a creative and collegiate approach to Psychology, and we welcome applicants working with a range of methods who are committed to both research and teaching. All post-holders will hold a doctorate in psychology, or equivalent and contribute directly to research, teaching and learning and to administration in the School.
