We are seeking to recruit a University Counsellor.  This is a key role within the Wellbeing team to support and contribute to a professional and specialist counselling service to students across all three of our campuses in Brentford, Ealing and Reading. The chosen candidate will be predominantly based at our Brentford campus but will be required to travel to Ealing and Reading at times to provide a period of counselling support.

Applicants need to offer a responsive, specialist counselling and referral service to all University students experiencing a wide range and degree of emotional and psychological difficulty thus promoting student retention, widening participation, academic achievement, academic participation and progression.

Applicants also need to provide front-line assessment, support and referral for students with acute and chronic serious mental health difficulties, including students at credible risk of suicide and harm to self or others thus supporting and ensuring the University fulfils its duty of care and related legal obligations.

Applicants will need to be a registered and/or accredited Counsellor (BACP, UKCP or BPS) with a minimum of 2 years post-qualifying experience to join our Wellbeing team working with students with complex and wide ranging issues. You will need to be experienced in short term counselling and able to work with crisis interventions using a wide range of therapeutic modalities.

Applicants must have good I.T. skills with proven experience of working with IT systems to record, monitor and report on a wide range of confidential matters.

An Enhanced DBS Certificate is required for this post (to be undertaken upon appointment)
