The University of Lincoln is setting up the Lincoln Centre for Agri Robotics providing funding for research in 3 key areas: Agri-Robotic Systems; Artificial Intelligence for Agrifood Systems and Navigation Autonomy in Field Environments in Agri-Food Robotics. The Lincoln Institute for Agri-Food Technology (LIAT) supported by Lincoln Centre for Autonomous Systems (L-CAS) are leading this project. 

This is a new Centre with funding being provided for Professors in each of the areas detailed above, Lecturers, Post-doctoral Research Fellows, Technicians in support, and PhD students. It is intended that beyond an initial pump-prime phase the Centre will be self-sustained by external research funding.

The post holder will provide direct support to the Deputy Director of LIAT. The centre will need to be economically sustainable within 3 years. The role will be key to developing and delivering the sustainability plan.

Agri-food Technology is central to the University of Lincoln’s strategy and the Lincoln Institute for Agri-food Technology (LIAT), as part of the College of Science, aims to support and enhance productivity, efficiency and sustainability in food and farming through research, education and technology.

The post holder will work as part of the Lincoln Agri Robotics and LIAT team to help develop and deliver the strategy to increase the quantity and range of research, development, innovation and knowledge exchange activities and services. The main focus will be on developing and delivering the work of the centre to ensure it is economically sustainable, through engagement with farming and related business that will lead on to further local, national and international funding opportunities.

The post holder is also expected to use their judgement to deal with queries and problems on a daily basis and to proactively support the broader team.
