Description :

Designability is an independent research, design and development charity working to improve the quality of life of people with disabilities and long-term health conditions. Our team of engineers, designers, therapists and technicians work in partnership with healthcare professionals, people with disabilities and end-users to develop innovative solutions to meet their needs. Our work is supported by a mix of charitable donations, commercial income and research grants.   Designability is based in Bath at the Royal United Hospital and has a separate manufacturing unit within the city centre, where this role will be based.

We are looking for an outstanding Workshop Technician to join the team in producing our range of assistive living products.  These include the hugely successful Wizzybug, our worldleading children’s powered wheelchair. The role also requires regular driving of the company van for deliveries and collections.

The post holder must have GCSE Maths and English, have 'Hands-on' experience of a range of mechanical engineering processes, be a careful and methodical worker with good attention to detail. Ideally applicants will have undertaken further education or training in an engineering related discipline. The post holder should also have a full clean driving license.

This is initially a six-month fixed term contract, however Designability production is growing rapidly and there may be the option to extend this to a permanent role.
