Description :

There is big move in clinical trials based research towards using routinely collected data, already captured for NHS patients in the health records. Nottingham Clinical Trials Unit (NCTU) is aiming to capitalise on the increasing accessibility of data and improve the efficiency of the trials it conducts. The role holder will organise and coordinate the collection, storing and merging of routine data from various sources (including NHS Digital and NHS trusts) .

The role holder will primarily work on the GBS3 Trial, an extremely large cluster randomised trial of strategies to screen for Group B Streptococcus carried in pregnant women. The trial results will help the National Screening Committee decide whether to introduce universal screening to prevent infections in newborn babies. They will work closely with the chief investigator, research midwife and the trial manager who are responsibility for the day-to-day coordination of the study. They will have specific responsible for the planning of all aspects of the data management of GBS3, and work under the direction of the team leader for data management and programming.

We are seeking a self-starter with previous experience in a clinical data management. They must have experience of manipulation and merging of large datasets, have a track record of producing data management plans and have the personal attributes to effectively engage with colleagues and data providers. This is rare opportunity to create a niche role for the post holder in a growing clinical trials unit, with expectations that the platforms and processes created will be developed and utilised across future trials, and that there will be opportunities for the post holder to develop their own analyses and methodological research.

This is a part time, 29 hours per week, fixed term post and will be offered until 30 September 2021.
