The University of Hull has ambitious plans to grow its Higher and Degree Apprenticeship provision in the Humber region and beyond. Due to this ongoing growth, an exciting opportunity has arisen for the post of Portfolio Tutor in the Faculty of Health Sciences (Nursing Department).

Reporting to the Head of Department (Nursing), the role of Portfolio Tutor is key to the continuing success of our Apprenticeship provision within Faculty of Health Sciences. The post holder will be required to support a range of Nursing and Nursing Associate Apprentices with differing levels of experience across the following Apprenticeship Programmes;

Level 6 BSc Nursing (Adult) ApprenticeshipLevel 5 Nursing Associate Apprenticeship

The post holder will provide individualised learning planning, academic assessor duties (as defined by the Nursing and Midwifery Council, 2019) and coaching to apprentices in order to develop and evidence the individual knowledge, skills and professional behaviours required for ‘End Point Assessment’ - including planning and conducting progress review visits, planning and assessing e-portfolios and ensuring Apprentices are undertaking relevant training during their 20% off the job time. The post holder will also be required to demonstrate basic clinical skills tasks aligned to Nursing and Nursing Associates in accordance with their parameters of practice.

The post holder is expected to work closely with the Programme Directors and Module Leaders to help Apprentices understand how to apply the taught theory and concepts within the workplace.

Applications are sought from experienced Nurses (with active professional registration with the NMC) who possess knowledge, skills and experience in the support and assessment of Nurse and Nursing Associate Apprentices. Due to the nature of the role, it is expected that that Post Holder will spend a significant amount of time within the Apprentice's place of work. Therefore, it is vital that the post holder is organised, self-motivated and has a willingness to work flexibly.
