Description :

Applications are invited for a Research Associate position in the Evaluation of Virtual Reality (VR). The applicant will have a strong methodological background with an interest in developing studies exploring VR and immersion as offering new ways of “witnessing the real.” This will involve exploring concepts such as: immersion; spatiality; embodiment; affect and agency.

This is an exciting opportunity within a larger collaborative team. ‘Virtual Realities – Immersive Documentary Encounters’ is a three year EPSRC research project, a collaboration between the Universities of Bristol, Bath and UWE Bristol. The overarching research question is ‘How might the affordances of Virtual Reality for immersion and interaction take forward documentary's mission for storytelling about our shared world?’ This multi-disciplinary research project, which is also in collaboration with industry partners including BBC R&D and Aardman Animation, combines audience study, production study and experimental study. The post is aimed at a researcher with a strong methodological background who is open to a mixed methods approach.

You will have (or just be completing) a PhD in Psychology. The successful candidates would have some experience with technology, in particular, virtual environments would be an advantage.

This is a fixed term, full time post however we also consider any part time applications. this post has an expected expiry date of 30th June 2020.

Closing Date: 02 Dec 2019
Type: Education & Research
