Technician/Demonstrator - Fashion (FMD0044)

The London School of Film, Media and Design is an exciting and innovative school within the University of West London.  Our vision is to be nationally and internationally recognised as a vibrant hub of creative learning.

The role will provide a professional level of technical instruction, curriculum support, demonstration and supervision for the technical facilities in sewing and pattern cutting for our fashion courses. This includes the set-up, maintenance and supply of resources and equipment, and the provision of technical assistance, advice and instruction to all stakeholders, including students, academic staff, and external customers.

The Technical Demonstrator will have particular expertise in pattern making and garment construction.  Industry experience and experience of using industrial machines is essential.  The successful applicant will have the ability to demonstrate a range of practical fashion processes and to support students in safe use of professional machinery and equipment (i.e. generic and specialist sewing machines, over lockers etc.)

You will need to work autonomously but also as an effective team member, liaising closely with other specialist technicians and academic staff to enable the production of high-quality work across all levels, including the culmination of well-executed collections for our graduate showcases.

There is an expectation for evening working on occasions during peak productivity periods.
