Research Technician in Machine Learning

The post is full time fixed term until 30/11/2020 in the first instance, with the potential for extension depending on the availability of funds. The post is due to start as soon as possible.

You will take up a leading role in a pilot project funded by the RFSL Limited.  The role will involve the development of software solutions in collaboration with RFSL Ltd to extract insights from datasets they hold on their estates of ATMs (cash machines) from across Europe. The goal will be to analyse historical or  streaming datasets to identify anomalies. Automation procedures will also need to be designed using machine learning techniques. Close collaboration with RFSL will be required to ensure the algorithms developed can be managed by non-expert humans. 

It is essential you have skill level equivalent to achievement of HNC, A Level, NVQ3 with proven work experience acquired in relevant technical support roles and job related training. In addition, you will have demonstrable experience of coding skills as the core work will involve developing machine learning and optimisation algorithms (Python, C++,  Java, Django, Javascript, TensorFlow, AWS).

This role will involve some elements of administrative duties including but not limited to the organisation of  events at RFSL's premises in Basingstoke.

You will join an internationally renowned and multi-disciplinary team across the University of Southampton (where this post is based). The team won several best paper awards for its world-renowned research. The project is led by Prof. Sarvapali Ramchurn, Director of the Centre for Machine Intelligence.
