The University of Nottingham Centre for Dairy Science Innovation (CDSI) and Arable Farm form part of the Agri-Tech National centre for dairy research. We have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Dairy and Arable Farm Technician to join the team. CDSI brings with it substantial investment in Dairy research at the University of Nottingham Farm, where existing facilities are being redeveloped and expanded to create a leading international centre for dairy research.

This role is an opportunity for an early career applicant or someone with experience who would like to work in a dairy farm environment with a difference. You will support the Dairy Farm Manager and Arable Farm Manager and their teams in all aspects of animal husbandry, including feeding, machinery operations (including operation of telehandlers and driving of farm vehicles and tractors) animal handling and care and record keeping. The role requires both good stock management and team working skills and an ability to contribute to the record keeping, animal welfare and the Health and Safety responsibilities of CDSI. Candidates should have a minimum of two A-Levels in relevant subjects or have equivalent vocational qualifications with some relevant experience or have considerable experience in a relevant role. Due to the frequency with the role holder will drive vehicles a full, current driving licence is also essential for this post.

This is a permanent post. Hours of work are full-time (36.25 per week) worked by rota averaging 5 days out of 7 including working regular weekends. It would be expected that the successful candidate would work regular additional hours as required. Overtime rates are paid for additional hours. Job share arrangements may be considered.
