The University is seeking a Head of School to lead one of the founding schools, the School of International Studies. The successful candidate will be expected to provide strong, inspiring and outstanding leadership to take the School to the next stage of strategic development. S/he will be responsible for strategic and financial planning, teaching and learning within the School, workload planning and the School’s research culture. The Head will also be expected to manage staff in a cooperative and collegiate manner and will be responsible for reviewing the performance of colleagues. 

Candidates should demonstrate proven leadership in managing a team of academics or a group of researchers. S/he should have a substantial record of achievement in leading and managing academic activity, and should have a strong academic record and a recognised research or professional profile in one or more of the disciplines represented within the School. An outstanding track record in education is essential and the candidates will be committed to building a first-class student experience and community, putting academic standards and rigor centre-stage. A strong and capable leader, the candidate will also deliver a clear and compelling vision for the School consistent with the University’s drive for excellence.

The position holder will be offered a fixed term contract initially of up to 3 years with the University of Nottingham Ningbo China with effect from September 2020 or thereafter as soon as possible. This contract can be extended on an indefinite basis depending on satisfactory performance. We offer a highly competitive salary and benefit package commensurate with experience and qualification, including accommodation, insurances, and schooling support, home flight, relocation & repatriation support, paid annual leave.
