Ningbo is a modern city of around 8 million people.  With a 7,000 year history, it is a good place to live with green spaces, many historical sites, cultural activities and a range of international schools.  Ningbo is also famous for its food.  It has high speed train links to other parts of China and an international airport, as welling being within easy reach of Shanghai.  The local cost of living is low by international standards.

If Ningbo were a country it would be rated as the 53rd largest economy in the world, on a par with New Zealand, and be classified as ‘high income’ by the World Bank.  It is the world’s largest cargo port and the 3rd biggest container port.  Ningbo is also a centre of entrepreneurial private businesses and manufacturing industry, for example automotive components.  Ningbo companies are increasingly globalizing their operations, while foreign companies are also active. This makes Ningbo an attractive place for business and management research.

In operation for 15 years, NUBS China currently has approximately 2,800 students of which about 400 are enrolled in postgraduate programmes including a Ph.D. programme. It has a rapidly expanding international faculty of about 100, all based in Ningbo China and coming from 30 countries or so.  The school is EQUIS accredited and currently under consideration by AACSB. It is part of a university that is highly rated and is seeking to improve further its ranking among the world’s top research and teaching universities.  NUBS China focuses its efforts around the three "I"s-International, Innovative, and Interactive. Since 2011, NUBS China has rapidly progressed towards an increasing focus on high impact research, customized executive education, in additional to teaching excellence.
