Do you have knowledge of the neurodegeneration field or a general neuroscience background?

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute towards world class laboratory research into Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia as part of a BRACE funded project.

The role

We are inviting applications from innovative and committed researchers to continue the development of a new model of brain aging based on induction of senescence in microglia.

The research project entails the development of a specific marker for senescent microglia using RNA sequencing and subsequent screening of potential markers using cell culture lines and human tissue sections.

There will also be the chance to develop microglia related research for future funding applications and the supervision of project students in the laboratory, as well as routine laboratory duties such as ordering reagents.

You will join the research group of Prof. David Brown based in the Department of Biology and Biochemistry which has international reputation in the field of aging and neurodegenerative diseases. The laboratory is well equipped and located within one of the leading biochemical research departments within the UK.

The position is fixed term with an expected duration of 11 months from the agreed start date. This will be following all COVID-19 restrictions being removed.
