Mental Health and Wellbeing is seeking an experienced CBT Therapist to join its growing team of mental health and wellbeing professionals. This is an exciting time for the team as senior sponsorship and increased resource drive an agenda of change and innovation designed to diversify the University’s offering and enhance the student experience.

In this role you will provide confidential and professional CBT-informed counselling for students seeking help with personal and academic problems affecting their mental health, emotional and psychological functioning and wellbeing in line with the aims, limits and practices of the Mental Health and Wellbeing service. You will be expected to manage your own caseload and refer students to other parts of the service or other student support mechanisms as appropriate.

You will assist Mental Health & Wellbeing in creating a therapeutic support structure for students experiencing distress. You will deliver CBT counselling and participate in the development of the service and work with University staff to build a supportive learning environment for students. You will also contribute to the development of university policies and procedures.

A CBT qualification to masters level which meets the theory and skills training criteria for British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Therapy accreditation (or for accreditation by UKCP or BPS) is essential; 

Accreditation by BACP/BABCP is essential; 

Educated to degree level or equivalent; 

Significant experience of working as a paid CBT counsellor in a formal counselling setting is essential; 

Experience of working as a Counsellor with students in HE settings is desirable; 

Experience of managing a significant caseload and accurate record keeping is essential; 

Experience of working with clients from a varied ethnic and cultural background is desirable; 

Experience of working with a time-limited approach is desirable; 

Experience of providing customer-facing services is desirable.
