The Estates and Facilities department is looking to appoint a Facilities Supervisor, based at the, Birmingham City Centre Campus. You will operate under the Assistant Facilities Manager and supervise a team of building assistants. Must be professional, with a flexible, committed and enthusiastic approach to customer service and facilities management whilst demonstrating the University's core values.

Key responsibilities of the role include activities which focus on: 

Provide facilities services for buildings on the University Estate and supervise a team of Building Assistants.

Services include waste removal, recycling, front-line repairs and fault reporting, room layouts, light replacements, lock maintenance, deliveries and responding to site emergencies.

Provide general front-line soft facilities services generated through the FM helpdesk allocated jobs and work schedules. 

Daily, weekly and monthly audit building and environmental checks by completing a monthly inspection sheets that reflect health, safety and environmental

Carry out weekly fire bell tests, checks and record information

Attend all Operational Meetings and Health and Safety Meetings

Ensure that layout of furniture in teaching spaces, exam rooms and events meet requirements including checking equipment, maintenance and resolving any issues

Deal with frontline repairs including toilet blockages, water leaks, heating system and lighting failures and assist with incidents or emergencies

Report repairs/maintenance issues through the Helpdesk system and follow up and feedback to customers accordingly

Assist with faculty and student events such as Open Days (some weekends) and work in partnership with other key operational staff.

To be successful in this role you should have experience of working in a similar customer facing environment, be able to undertake a wide range of tasks, and able to work under pressure and to deadlines. Effective communication and team working is key within this role to provide excellent customer service at all times.

A knowledge of building issues and repairs would be desirable as part of your role will be undertaking a ‘first response’ to reactive jobs across the campus.

You will also need to be able to write clear and concise and be familiar with using Microsoft Office such as Outlook. Previously working from a FM helpdesk and a PDA (Hand held Device) would be desirable. Knowledge of health, safety, environmental best practice and compliance is essential for this role.
