You will play a key role in contributing towards the on-going support, maintenance, design, development and management of our core IT services.

As a IT Operations Senior Support Engineer, you will take the lead in providing day-to-day administration, technical support and management, advice and guidance on our MySQL platforms running on Linux. In addition, you would benefit from a broad understanding of a number of platforms, products, services and technologies with demonstrable recent experience in current versions, while having experience in the support, maintenance and configuration of relevant infrastructure technologies.

Equally important is your approach to work, for instance highly motivated with a keen willingness and demonstrable ability to learn, with strong analytical problem-solving skills and great attention to detail, good communication and documentation skills and the ability to work under pressure. You will be working on routine service requests and issue/incident resolution, while working within a structured IT Service Delivery Framework (for instance, ITIL). You may also be involved in the supervision and training of less experienced staff.

At the University of Nottingham, we aim to give you all the support you need to nurture your talent, develop and reach your professional and personal career goals. As the successful candidate, you will be educated to Degree level or equivalent relevant experience.

This is a permanent, full-time (36.25 hours per week) post, however job share arrangements may be considered.
