We are looking for a recent graduate, who can help to ensure that BCU’s commitments to the Aimhigher UniConnect programme are met. The role will suit an enthusiastic self starter, who is keen to help support learners into higher education. Working within the wider Student Rrecruitment team, you will contribute towards the University's widening participation aims and promise to be "The University for Birmingham".

Based between two of our partner UniConnect schools and the office you will support to build, lead and manage a portfolio of partnerships with feeder schools and colleges.  The role will support the development and delivery of a broad portfolio of activity to targeted, under-represented groups who are UniConnect eligible.

The Aim Higher Plus graduate coordinator will work as a mentor and first point of contact to some of the most disadvantaged and disengaged young people in the West Midlands. The postholder will work 2 days in a week in 2 different secondary schools within the West Midlands areas, they will spend the other day of the week at Birmingham City University. The successful applicant will work first hand with a range of students to guide them through their school progression and encourage them to apply to Higher Education. The postholder will be responsible for liaising between University partners and the schools to ensure students are aware of the opportunities available to them through Aim Higher Plus and arrangements are organised so they are able to make the most out of all events.

The successful candidate will have experience of supporting in a mentor/ambassador role (or similar) within an education environment, enhanced by previous experience in customer services.

You will have excellent interpersonal skills, in addition to engaging presentation skills. Computer literacy and organisational skills are also key elements of this role. 

The post-holder must have a flexible approach to work, as evening/weekend work may occasionally be required.

This position is offered on a fixed term basis, with the UniConnect programme running until July 2021.
