The University of Southampton invites applications for the role of Project Manager of the Innovative Training Network (ITN) - BiD4BEST (Big Data Applications for Black Hole Evolution Studies). 

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced manager or an ambitious administrator looking for their next step, to take full ownership of the administrative aspects of this multi-partner EU Project.

You will be involved in all operational aspects of the Network, including:

The full life-cycle of the PhD student experience from recruitment through to graduation, including management of the placement process.

Organising network events and training, including the final project conference.

Managing project timelines

Budget monitoring and reporting

Providing progress reports to the European Commission and communicating EU regulations to the project partners.

You will also be the primary point of contact for students and staff across Europe and within the University on a wide range of issues.

The role requires a self-motivated and proactive individual who is a confident and diplomatic communicator with a strong sense of customer focus, and the ability to meet deadlines and prioritise workload.  Excellent time management, operations coordination, planning, project management and IT skills are essential, coupled with attention to detail, the ability to be resourceful under pressure, and a can-do attitude.  Strong writing skills, the ability to summarise information and write clear concise reports is required for this post.

The role is based in the School of Physics and Astronomy.
