Dongbei University of Finance & Economics (DUFE), founded in 1952, is one of the leading universities in China in the areas of finance, economics, management and tourism.

Surrey international Institute, located on DUFE campus, is an academic partnership between DUFE in Dalian and the University of Surrey in the United Kingdom. With an establish reputation of offering quality business-related courses it currently offers programmes in International Business Management, International Tourism Management and Accounting & Finance.

NB: This appointment is not with the University of Surrey. While the role, as part of a highly international team of fellow academics, is to teach on the SII-DUFE International Business Management programme, the appointment will be made by DUFE, and the successful candidate will be employed by DUFE.

Qualifications:

A Master’s degree in Operations Management or a closely related field, and a number of years of relevant teaching experience; or a Ph.D. in Operations Management or a closely related field and a recent record of scholarship published in peer-reviewed journals or number of years of relevant professional experience. Doctoral degree in Business Management, preferably with teaching/industrial experience. The successful applicants should be able to design and teach courses in operations and supply chain management, as well as able to teach broader area of fundamentals of business management at the undergraduate levels. Lecturers should preferably have at least two years teaching experience. Awareness of quality assurance processes in higher education. Ability to work with minimum supervision, maintain effective communications with colleagues and use initiative to resolve problems or find information. International teaching experience is preferable. Certificate in teaching qualification is preferable

Remuneration Package

We are offering a very competitive salary package that matches those of the best universities in China.

The salary offered will be commensurate with the candidate's qualifications and experience, but will compare favorably with leading Chinese universities (in the range of 350,000 RMB to 450,000 RMB per year),

Expatriate benefits will be available to eligible applicants, such as a relocation allowance, medical insurance and medical allowance.

We are offering free apartment on campus if available or a suitable housing allowance.

Appointment Term

The appointment is initially on a fixed-term basis for one year, with the possibility of extension by mutual agreement.

Responsibilities

Our ideal candidate will have proven and sound university teaching experience, along with relevant professional experience in the following areas:

Developing new teaching methods that encourage positive interactions and overall student development.

Teaching various undergraduate and postgraduate modules in International Business Management discipline including a focus in operations management, supply chain management, business decision-making and the ability to possibly teach in areas of ethics and sustainability if required.

Planning, delivering and critically reviewing a range of teaching and assessment activities appropriate to students' levels.

Setting and/or promptly marking coursework, practical sessions and examinations, and providing appropriate feedback to students in accord with marking rubrics.

Providing regular consultation times, personal tutoring and other extra-curricular support for students seeking guidance on their subjects, advice on assessments or other related matters.

Participating in peer classroom observations or other staff development initiates aimed at improving quality.
