Description :

To build on the expertise within the School of Health Sciences we are seeking to appoint an experienced District Nurse into the role of Teaching Fellow (Pathway Lead in Community Nursing).

Applications for part-time are also welcome.

Sitting within the University’s Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, the School of Health Sciences has achieved substantial success and is currently ranked 4th by the Complete University Guide 2020 and 4th by the Times and Sunday Time Good University Guide 2020. The School is a leading provider of undergraduate and postgraduate education and is in the top 10 in the UK for research following the last Research Excellence Framework assessment. In addition to this, we have been awarded Gold for our Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF).

The School offers a wide range of innovative programmes in the field of Health Sciences. Research within the school is diverse, and focused in six distinct areas: cancer care, eHealth, long term conditions and elderly care, acute and emergency care, ethics and compassion in care, maternal, child & family health, and clinical innovation. The School has recently relocated to a state-of-the-art Facility on Surrey Research Park.  Housed in the Kate Granger Building, the School has modern and innovative teaching, simulation and study spaces which support the student journey.  Research facilities and staff areas within the School also ensure modern working environments to enhance creativity.

The University of Surrey is the recipient of four Queen’s Anniversary Prizes. As a Bronze Athena SWAN award holder, Stonewall Diversity Champion and Disability Confident employer, we are committed to supporting equality, diversity and inclusion.

In addition to salary you will receive a generous annual leave entitlement and excellent development opportunities. Our benefits package includes discounted membership to the Surrey Sports Park, nursery on site and relocation assistance (subject to meeting certain criteria).

We are pleased to advise that you may be able to continue to pay into the NHS pension scheme; this facility enables you to continue to contribute towards your existing NHS pension despite no longer being employed by the NHS.   Access to the NHS pension scheme will only be available if certain criteria are satisfied, so if this is something you wish to investigate, please do check directly with the University of Surrey Pensions Office at pensions@surrey.ac.uk

In addition, we would be open to discussions about potential opportunities for secondments or additional roles to support our expanding Community Nursing (Adult) student provision.

For informal enquiries please contact Felicity Jones, Director of Studies for Specialist Practice and Pathway Lead for Health Visiting, via email on felicity.jones@surrey.ac.uk
