We are looking for a keen, motivated individual with an excellent eye for detail to join the Doctoral College’s Recruitment Team. This team is responsible for administering all PhD and professional doctorate admissions and coordinating the numerous funding competitions associated with doctoral study. The successful candidates will have a leadership role in the management of doctoral recruitment in the South West Doctoral Training Partnership with colleges across other universities in the South West of England. As part of our team you will play a vital role in providing efficient and effective support to those students who are considering undertaking postgraduate research at Bath and in managing the funding of doctoral studentships and competitions for the Faculty of Health and Social Sciences.

About the Doctoral College

The Doctoral College supports and enriches the experience of doctoral researchers and plays a key role in developing policy and strategy for doctoral study. It also supports recruitment to doctoral study programmes, manages student and programme administration, provides professional skills development and helps students to feel supported, from enquiry through to graduation, wherever and however they choose to study.

About the role

This is a part-time role covering 6.5 months maternity leave. It involves liaison with prospective doctoral students, members of academic staff, internal professional services representatives and external agencies and university colleagues. In addition, you will be required to coordinate student funding allocations, and to work with the Head of Doctoral Admissions and Recruitment managing wider postgraduate recruitment activities. You will also be expected to support other members of the Doctoral College team and provide assistance and guidance where necessary.

About you

You should be a highly organised individual with an eye for detail and experience of working in a busy environment, preferably involving admissions or student recruitment. Attention to detail is very important as is the ability to manage a busy workload with conflicting priorities. You will need to work closely with other team members, academic colleagues and students from across the world, so excellent communication skills are highly important. You will have an ambassadorial role through your interactions with other university colleagues in the South West Doctoral Training Partnership. You will be an excellent team player, able to work on own initiative, with a high degree of flexibility, and a quick learner. You should have excellent computer skills, with a proficiency in Word and Excel, and the ability to learn use of database systems. Knowledge/experience of Business Objects and/or SAMIS/SITS would be beneficial.

This post is offered on a part time (21.90 hours per week) fixed-term basis for 6.5 months.
