Research Fellow in Electric Propulsion (027320)

The Surrey Space Centre (SSC) is seeking to recruit a fulltime researcher for 10 months (with potential for further extension). The Surrey Space Centre, part of the Department of Electronic Engineering, is a world-class institution for space research. The investigation of disruptive electric propulsion concepts is subject of ongoing research within the SSC Space Propulsion group. 

The successful candidate will be conducting hands-on laboratory investigations on innovative plasma technologies for enabling Air-Breathing Electric Propulsion in the frame of the EC H2020 project AETHER.

This post ideally requires somebody with a degree in Engineering or Physical Sciences, and a PhD or at least 2 years experience in Electric Propulsion and/or experimental low-pressure plasmas. The candidate will have a good working knowledge of plasma diagnostics and vacuum chamber facilities.  In addition, the candidate will have experience with procurement, manufacture, experimental setup, and testing. Preference will be given to those with a proven research and publication track record, preferably with PhD and/or practical industrial experience.
