Description :

The School of Psychology at the University of Lincoln seeks a Senior Technician to support research and teaching in the School of Psychology. The post holder will be part of a team of psychology technicians working closely with academic staff in the School. The post will also involve liaising with University central ICT services, estates and other professional services staff.

The technical team provides day to day support for use of specialised laboratory equipment including eye trackers, electrophysiological recording systems (including EEG) and transcranial doppler imaging. Other research in the School uses online questionnaire based systems (e.g. Qualtrics), video and audio recording systems. Software used in Psychology includes PsychoPy, ePrime, SPSS, R and Matlab.

Experience of providing technical support within a similar environment will be highly valued. The School moved into a purpose built building in 2017 and has a number of specialist labs including a TMS lab, Molecular Psychology Lab, Baby Lab and Sleep Lab. Psychology has in-house electrical and mechanical workshop facilities and experience of using or managing similar facilities would also be desirable, but is not strictly necessary.

Given the current move to provision of blended learning, and online experimentation, experience with digital education, and translation of experiments to the online environment are highly desirable. Please contact either the Head of School Dr Kirsty Miller (kmiller@lincoln.ac.uk) or the Academic Lab Director Dr Tessa Flack (tflack@lincoln.ac.uk) for further information.

The School of Psychology recognises the positive value of diversity, promotes equality and proactively works to make our School an inclusive environment. We welcome and encourage job applications from people of all backgrounds. We particularly welcome applications from disabled and Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) candidates, as these groups are currently underrepresented at this level.

This position does not fulfil the UK Visas & Immigration sponsorship criteria for Tier 2.
