Description :

We are looking for a new member of the digital team embedded within the School of Computing and Communications, supporting a new Cyber Security based programme at Lancaster University.  You will work within a team as a developer and consultant, collaborating with small business to develop new digital product and service concepts with a Cyber Security feature or focus.  You will work with businesses to develop digital product ideas from conception to digital prototype, following good cyber security practice along the way. The project enables small businesses to grow by accessing a research and development service to explore new product ideas at a reduced risk.

You will need to be able to demonstrate a range of practical technical experience in software development and programming.  No two client projects will be the same so the successful candidate must have the flexibility to adapt and quickly adopt new technical skills and approaches. Cyber security expertise is an advantage but not essential as the team will work alongside the academic team with the School of Computing and Communications.  The role is not a typical development team position but offers the chance to gain experience in a range of projects, developing digital prototypes for business clients and incorporating cyber security best practice.

Good communication skills, including writing skills, are essential as is the ability to work with business to assess their requirements.  You will be creative in supporting business to innovate and develop new products and services through the application of the latest digital technology.  The ability to travel to meetings at client company locations throughout the region is essential.

For an informal discussion about the role, please get in touch with Jon Lomas (j.lomas1@lancaster.ac.uk).
