The School of Cultures, Languages and Area Studies is a leading centre for the study of Modern Languages and Cultures; Cultural, Media and Visual Studies; and American and Canadian studies. We offer first degrees (BA) and both taught and research postgraduate degrees (MA, MRes, MSc and PhD) and deliver internationally recognised research across our departments. We also work closely with The University of Nottingham's campuses in China and Malaysia.

We are looking to appoint a Teaching Associate in German within our Language Centre to cover a period of maternity leave. Since its establishment in 1991, the Language Centre has grown steadily and developed to become what it is today: a dynamic teaching unit offering high quality language learning to more than 1200 students per semester, from all departments across the University.

The role-holder will possess excellent oral and written communication skills in both German and English and will be involved in teaching and convening language modules, with responsibility for marking and contributing to the development of teaching and learning resources.

Candidates must hold a degree (or equivalent) in German as well as a PGCE, PGCHE or equivalent teaching qualification and have a proven track record in German language teaching and module convening at university level.

This position is available on a fixed-term, part-time basis (29 hours per week) from 1 September 2020 until 30 June 2021.
