Opportunities have arisen, both immediately available, for two data-savvy candidates to join our Timetabling team to provide maternity cover for a period of 12 months as Timetabling Officers, supporting the work of the team to schedule teaching and assessments for our students.

The Timetabling team plays a pivotal role in ensuring timetables are designed to enhance the student experience and optimise the use of teaching spaces.  Our work is fast paced, with high levels of demand all year round as we deliver against tight deadlines and robust targets.  Our work is highly detailed, involves problem solving and managing customer expectations.

Key responsibilities will include:

Providing a high-level of support for effective and efficient timetabling Working with Timetabling Managers to design and construct student-centred timetablesWorking closely with our Schools to ensure the data required for timetable production is available by our required deadlinesAssisting with the scheduling of examination periodsEnsuring requests and schedules are in accordance with our timetabling principles that are designed to put the needs of our students first

To be successful in the role, the you will demonstrate a genuine commitment to providing a high standard of customer service, an ability to take ownership of problems and work hard to resolve them, have good communication, team working and problem solving skills and have a positive, flexible approach to the role. Crucially, you will be comfortable working with large data sets and corporate systems such as our timetabling system, Termtime, and our student record system, SITS. 

Whilst experience in some form of scheduling is desirable, we are happy to hear from candidates who can demonstrate the aptitudes necessary to get up to speed with the process of timetabling very quickly.

You will also be committed to driving your own personal development and willing to be involved in projects and initiatives to continuously develop our timetabling processes and service levels.

Academic Registry is comprised of three strands:

Student Lifecycle & Service Enhancement, with responsibility for delivering key events in the student lifecycle such as examinations and award ceremonies, student fees and funding, and working with stakeholders across the university to drive continuous enhancement to services delivered by or supported by our student systems.Student Systems & Data, with responsibility for the continued development of systems including our student records system (SITS) and our student enquiries system (SID); a portfolio of operational reports to support the annual cycle of activity; driving improvements in student data quality across the university and meeting our obligations towards statutory external returns.Timetabling, with responsibility for delivering scheduled teaching and examination timetables to students in accordance with the university’s timetabling principles, supporting the booking of rooms for non-teaching purposes, and working with faculties, schools and Estates to ensure the curriculum is delivered effectively and appropriately for our students.
