The Faculty of Health, Education and Life Sciences has a long and established history when it comes to delivering initial teacher training (ITT), education, childhood and youth courses in Birmingham. Investment in a £41 million purpose-built development with specialist laboratories has enabled the Faculty to offer a wide range of new health, life science and sports courses including: pre-registration Master’s courses in physiotherapy and dietetics; courses in sports therapy, sports and exercise science and sports nutrition; biomedical sciences and biomedical engineering. 

Our health and care course students learn in the most realistic settings – from a mock operating theatre and hospital wards to a fully equipped birthing room and virtual radiotherapy suite. This vibrant academic and student community the Faculty of Health Education and Life Sciences is growing rapidly and we have recently expanded onto a satellite site based adjacent to the City South Campus in Edgbaston. 

Located in the heart of a vibrant city, we are the University for Birmingham. Reporting to the PVC & Executive Dean of the Faculty of Health Education and Life Sciences, this post will contribute to the strategic development, leadership and management of the Faculty through the effective and efficient oversight and management of Faculty Operations. The successful post holder will manage operations to ensure the successful delivery of high-quality administrative services to students and staff in the Faculty.

Specific responsibilities include:

with the Associate Dean: Student Learning Experience and Quality, to undertake a proactive role in the dissemination of good practice and contribute proactively to the continuous improvement of the University’s administration through the review and evaluation of the Faculty’s administrative procedures and through working with other areas associated with the Student Experience.with the Associate Dean: Academic Portfolio & Market Development to provide advice and guidance to academic and administrative staff on Trans-national education and partnership working with local FE and other partners and to advise and coordinate the internal Faculty administration of the Faculty’s apprenticeship provisionMore generally the post holder will be expected to take responsibility for overseeing operational requirements in the Faculty such as the recruitment and selection of the administrative team, managing workloads and the distribution of workload, conducting one to one’s and IPR’s whilst taking a lead to streamline and improve administrative processes
