Birmingham City University is a large and diverse place to work right in the heart of the city.  The Faculty of Business, Law and Social Sciences has an exciting opportunity for a Student Success Adviser to join its current dynamic, highly performing team.  The role will suit a recent graduate from the Faculty who is looking to develop their career through supporting students in the School of Social Sciences to be successful on their courses.

You will work as part of a small team which reports to the Associate Dean (Student Learning Experience) to improve retention, continuation and progression in the Faculty of Business, Law and Social Sciences.  You will work closely with academic colleagues in the School of Social Sciences, supporting our strategy to personalise learning, help students to reach their full potential and ensure that they make the most of their opportunities here at BCU.

Working as part of a team, the Student Success Adviser will:

Work as part of a team of Student Success Advisers, academic and administrative staff to enhance the student experience.Co-ordinate initiatives and activities designed to improve retention, continuation, attainment and progression.Promote activities in support of equality, diversity and inclusion.Provide a proactive signposting service to the University’s student support provision and networks for both students and staff.Communicate effectively with students so that they are well-supported on their courses

Skills and Qualifications:

A recent graduate from the Faculty of Business, Law and Social ScienceA degree from the School of Social Sciences is desirableA commitment to equality, diversity and inclusionAn understanding of how students can make full use of their time and opportunities at BCUStrong communication skills, including the ability to present to groupsStrong IT skills including Microsoft OfficeA strong team player
