Are you passionate about using market research to improve performance? Birmingham City University is looking for an experienced project / market research manager to join its award-winning Marketing and Communication team. 

The role holder will take a lead on all aspects of market research, ranging from strategic data analysis and reporting to new course portfolio development, whilst monitoring performance and recommending areas for improvement to enhance the student experience. You will lead a small team, working in partnership with colleagues across the wider team, including admissions, student recruitment, marketing and communications.

Through effective leadership of the Market Research function, you will manage market research and portfolio development projects to achieve change and improvement as part of the University’s overall strategy. You will also ensure that market research is managed robustly to time and budget and delivers impactful results whilst driving project scoping, business case development and project delivery.

The main areas of responsibility will be to:

Assemble and co-ordinate multi-disciplinary market research project teams.

Define the scope, methodology, resource skills and budget requirements for individual qualitative and quantitative market research projects.

Assess project risks and identify actions to address these.

Deliver complex market research projects to time and budget.

Engage and manage project stakeholders.

Provide professional advice and guidance and practical support for the development and delivery of strategic projects, such as advising the University's future size and shape. 

Maintain appropriate project governance.

Provide regular reports on progress, budget, issues and risks.

Requirements:

A good first degree.

A further market research or project management qualification, or several years' experience working in a similar role in a complex organisation.

Experience of monitoring and managing programme risks and benefits.

Demonstrate experience of budget and resources management.

Excellent IT skills including project management software tools, Microsoft Visio and SharePoint. Also knowledge of Tableau and Alteryx is desirable.

Excellent negotiation and influencing skills, coupled with tact and diplomacy.

Excellent written and verbal communications skills, including report writing and presentation skills.
