The School of Nursing and Midwifery has an exciting developmental opportunity for an experienced Adult Nurse looking to make the move into higher education as an Assistant Lecturer.

You will support the learning, teaching, and assessment of our student nurses across our Current and Future Nurse curriculums. The post holder will support a wide range of teaching activities across a range of clinical skills and nursing topics, whilst also supporting the assessment of students across a variety of assessment methods. 

 The successful applicant will also be required to offer academic and pastoral guidance to our students and participate in the recruitment and selection processes relating to the recruitment of student nurses and thus the future nursing workforce. 

You will:

Develop and apply inspiring teaching techniques and content which foster enthusiasm, understanding, and critical enquiry amongst students.Assess learner's attainment of relevant knowledge and skills across a range of informal and formal methods.Develop internal and external networks.Provide pastoral support, enabling students to thrive and become independent professionals who are proud to be part of Birmingham City University.Be supported to develop research, enterprise, and scholarly activities that are integral to the role.

Applicants must hold a first degree in a clinically relevant subject to Adult Nursing and current registration with the NMC as a Registered Nurse. They must also have a current formal mentorship qualification and be able to demonstrate recent experience of supporting student nurses in practice.

Successful applicants will be fully funded and supported through our own teacher training apprenticeship, including full support for study attendance, and the allocation of a dedicated mentor to support them through the learning requirements.
