An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Academic Clinical Exercise Physiologist to join the Vascular Research Department based at Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (HUTH). 

The post holder will be responsible for the delivery of an NIHR funded research study exploring the effects of high intensity interval training upon walking performance in patients with intermittent claudication. You will conduct high quality cardiopulmonary exercise testing for research and clinical care purposes in accordance with a predefined study and / or NHS protocol, whilst adhering to good research and clinical practices.   The post holder will also lead supervised exercise programmes for research and NHS purposes, activities include but are not limited to; assessing the suitability of exercise for each patient, prescribing individualised exercise plans, performing exercise assessments and providing physical activity advice and education.  You will maintain and monitor comprehensive clinical and research records in line with Trust standards, GCP and GDPR.

It is essential that applicants are qualified to Master's degree level in Cardiovascular Rehabilitation/Clinical Exercise Science or equivalent, with a first degree in Sport and Exercise Science, Coaching or Rehabilitation, and be registered with an accredited Sports and Exercise Science Professional Body.  The applicant must also hold a PhD or be near to obtaining a PhD from the start date of the position.  

Applicants are required to have experience of working with patients with cardiovascular disease in an NHS setting. Considerable experience of performing and analysing cardiopulmonary exercise tests, providing exercise interventions and other functional tests in this clinical population is essential.

The successful applicant will demonstrate experience of delivering research; ethics applications (e.g. HRA, IRAS), acting as local lead for multi-centre RCTs, have an emerging track record of publications, presentations and successful grant applications.
