The Chemical Engineering Department at Lancaster University is seeking an outstanding and ambitious candidate for the post of Innovation Fellow to support R&D activities in the focus area of chemical processes for sustainable solutions, to work on the £4.9M Next Generation Chemistry Project. The NextGenChem is a co-designed programme between Lancaster University and Yordas Group and partly funded by the European Regional Development Fund. The programme offers innovation support to over 300 SMEs in the Lancashire area involved in chemicals production and usage such as in the aerospace, automotive, energy, applied healthcare and life sciences sectors using Next Generation Chemistry.

This position involves working with SMEs to evaluate R&D challenges and develop or improve a wide range of sustainable chemical processes or products. Whilst the Innovation Fellow is expected to work across a range of industrial sectors, and it is anticipated that there will be a strong focus on chemical process, energy, healthcare and life science.

You should have a PhD degree in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry with experience to work on a range of chemical process for sustainable solutions. Having knowledge of relevant analytical characterisation would be an advantage. The successful candidate will work across several laboratories at Lancaster University and learn new skills. We would anticipate the successful candidate has previous involvement of working on industrial research projects.

You will join us on an indefinite contract however, the role remains contingent on external funding which, at this time is for 24 months, with a possible extension to 27 months, subject to funding body approval.
