About You  

You will be an enthusiastic and friendly professional with excellent communication and interpersonal skills coupled with a commitment to providing an excellent student experience. An established or promising research profile in counselling and/or psychotherapy and very good Higher Education teaching experience on undergraduate/postgraduate programmes is essential. You will be registered with UKCP, BACP, HCPC or equivalent, a psychotherapist, counsellor or arts psychotherapist and able to apply learning to real life situations. The ideal candidate would also have a broad integrative, humanistic and/or creative approach to psychotherapy and specific knowledge, experience and training in person-centred, experiential, arts or expressive therapies. We would expect the successful candidate to contribute to the delivery of our modules on all aspects of psychotherapy/counselling education (including applied theory; psychotherapy/counselling skills; personal development groups; and, supervised practice groups) and other areas of our programmes, depending on your areas of expertise and experience To be successful you will further enrich our students’ experience through your expertise and subject knowledge as evidenced through your qualifications and experience. In return, you will join a forward thinking and dynamic team that pushes the boundaries of curriculum development within counselling and psychotherapy.

About the Role

You will be required to make a significant contribution to the delivery of our practice-based BA (Hons) Counselling and Psychotherapy; the BSc (Hons) Critical Approaches to Counselling and Psychotherapy and new MSc Counselling and Psychotherapy – Contemporary Creative Approaches. This portfolio reflects the cutting-edge profile of both research and practise that is a feature of the Counselling & Psychotherapy provision at EHU, and in which your contribution to further development, will be both supported and encouraged. 

We would particularly welcome candidates who could teach one or more of our programmes

You will be expected to contribute to the research profile of the department through the activities of one of our Research Units, and to meet the qualitative and qualitative requirements for submission to the next Research Excellence Framework.
