Description :

Staffordshire University is on a journey to become the foremost modern higher education institution in the UK, with an international reputation for excellence, and we are looking for inspirational and effective people to take us to the next stage.

In 2018 we broke into the World University rankings for the first time and were named as a top 50 UK university by the Guardian. The quality of our student experience has placed us in the top 10 for teaching quality in the Sunday Times Good University Guide 2018 and in 2019 we achieved a Gold rating in the Teaching Excellence Framework.

Many of our students come from areas with low rates of participation in higher education and we continually strive to ensure the courses we offer meet the needs of people and employers. We are expanding our non-traditional, flexible study options, particularly in apprenticeships serving the public sector.

You can join us at a time when we begin the next step of our transformation journey. The new £40m Catalyst Building will deliver 6,500 new apprentices in the next decade, boosting both the local and national economy. The development of our offer to new academic areas and geographic locations will see us expand our reach and make an innovative offer to a new generation of students.

We are a university of and for our community: local, national and global. If you share our values and have the skills to deliver our vision, we want to hear from you.

The role will be responsible for managing the successful operation of a sub-regional Outreach Hub, as part of the Higher Horizon+ Uni Connect programme. The Uni Connect programme is funded by the Office for Students (OfS) to encourage awareness of, and access to, Higher Education for identified individuals from target groups in schools where progression to Higher Education is low. This is a unique opportunity to manage the work of the Higher Horizons+ Hub at Staffordshire University and work with a collaboration of key stakeholders from across the Higher Horizons+ partnership.

With direction from a central team at Keele University, the Hub Manager will be responsible for meeting all requirements of the project, including the development and delivery of Outreach activities and events to a target list of secondary schools and colleges throughout Staffordshire, Shropshire and Cheshire; the management of data collection and evaluation; management of budgets; and meeting the reporting requirements of the funding.

The successful candidate will be a team player who has experience of large-scale collaborative projects and has successfully worked with others to build positive relationships. They will have keen commitment to widening participation and an understanding of higher education practices and policies relating to entry to Higher Education.
