Head of Activities

Salary Scale F; (£34,135 - £45,815)

Full time; 35 hours per week

This is an exciting opportunity to work within a great team where we are here to represent the voice of students at every level and ultimately make their university experience unforgettable by offering a wealth of activities, entertainment and student support services.

This role is instrumental in managing the Activities Department with responsibility over staff, budgets, safety management and legislative compliance across all areas of activity. The role also involves working closely with sabbatical and student officers with the aim of supporting students with running their activities. With this the successful candidate will also need to strategically develop SUSU’s many clubs and societies using a data-led approach, ensuring equitable inclusion and participation for all students.

We are looking for a passionate individual with experience of managing staff, particularly volunteers, and in a fast-pace and busy environment where you will be confident in planning, delivering and managing complex activities. It is essential that you are familiar with issues of health and safety, have understanding of financial management and have excellent organisation and communication skills. You will be open to working flexible hours including evenings and weekends when needed and occasionally need to visit other sites/ campuses. You will be a confident worker with responsibilities including managing operational activities, providing support to Student Leaders, Sabbatical Officers and Club and Society members, and ensuring student access to a range of diverse, relevant and exciting activities.

As a member of the Senior Management Team, you will contribute to the overall effectiveness of the Union by providing a high standard of leadership, effectively follow procedures, and strive to create an outstanding employer experience.
