Your expertise and passion for improving student mental health and wellbeing combined with a desire to tackle challenging issues, will be key to your success in this crucial role within the Student Wellbeing Service at the University of Brighton.

As a key manager within the service you will lead the wellbeing team and coordinate responses to the University cause for concern escalation pathway, alongside holding a student case load.  You will also lead on the Suicide Safer strategy and work closely with the Head of Student Wellbeing and wider management team to define the approach and shape the wider strategy for student mental health and wellbeing, including our online disclosure tool and response team, set up to spearhead our approach to tackling violence and abuse, harassment and hate crime.  

You will work effectively as part of a wider Student Wellbeing team and be comfortable and competent in risk management, safety-planning and decision making.  You will be expected to operate in a highly professional manner and build effective relationships across both the University and wider community, particularly statutory and other support services.  

As the successful candidate you should bring with you the relevant skills, qualifications and experience to lead a specialist multidisciplinary team of wellbeing practitioners.  In addition, to succeed in the role you should have:

Experience of supporting and supervising team members to manage high-risk and complex student presentations or situationsThe ability to develop and implement strategies, initiatives and procedures   Significant experience of working within a large organisational setting (i.e. university, NHS) delivering complex needs supportA degree or equivalent qualification in either nursing, social work, occupational therapy, counselling, psychology or related field.
