We are looking for a friendly, engaging, enthusiastic person to join the School of Psychology operations technical team. You will work together with colleagues to provide technical support, ensuring day-to-day operational needs are met.

As a technician, you will work closely with the Health and Safety Co-ordinator and IT Technical Manager. 

You will:

Raise orders to purchase IT and specialist equipment, obtaining quotes and locating supplies whilst adhering to current UoN procurement policies.Deploy IT equipment, re-installing computers, troubleshooting and relocating supplies.Provide excellent customer service to academic colleagues and students e.g. installing software, resolving issues.Update, manage and create spreadsheets, maintain databases e.g. asset databases, storing H&S records.Assist with Health and Safety matters e.g. risk assessmentsSupport in all aspects of technical operations

And you will bring:

Extensive level of IT skills, including MS Office suite (eg. Outlook, Word, Excel, SharePoint and Teams).Excellent oral and written communication and numeracy skills.Ability to undertake a range of technical support activities e.g. deployment of Mac/PC machines, installing software and IT troubleshooting using systematic and methodical approach with minimal supervision.Provide and maintain a high level of customer service whilst working to deadlines.Accuracy, reliability and the willingness and adaptability to learn new skills and procedures.A sound understanding of Health and Safety.Ability to lift and move objects as this role will involve storing and moving consumables and equipment. 

Experience with the deployment of Apple Macs in a multi-user setting is highly desirable, as is a firm familiarity with Linux and Windows. Applicant must hold a full, current driving licence due to a requirement to drive the school research car and undertake test drives.
