Description :

Are you an enthusiastic and experienced researcher in applied robotics? Are you looking for a new and exciting challenge as part of a world class robotics team?  Do you want to design and create robotic systems that will change our lives for the better?

As a key member of the newly awarded ‘Advanced Machinery and Productivity Institute (the AMP Institute)’, you will lead on the development of new robotic processes and techniques to manufacture complex mechatronic systems.

You will become part of the Real Robotics lab at the University of Leeds, which is currently involved in research projects of total value >£20m. The lab’s research includes robotic manufacturing and manufacturing of robots, including world class robot fabrication facilities, and robotic systems to inspect and repair city infrastructure.  Current major externally funded projects include: Pipebots, Trustworthy Autonomous Systems Verifiability Node, and recently awarded strength in places funding linked with the Advanced Machinery and Productivity Institute (the AMP Institute). The real robotics lab consists of ten full time academics and technicians, more than ten post-doctoral researchers more than 20 PhD students.

In this role you will take the lead in the design and implementation of robotic manufacturing technology, for creating advanced functional systems. As well as supporting project partners with hardware design, you will conduct pioneering work on innovative systems integration for robotics, and autonomous control strategies.  Holding both a PhD (or have submitted your thesis before taking up the role), and a Bachelors or Masters degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics and Robotics or a related discipline, you will have experience in the design construction and testing of advanced hardware platforms for robotics or automated machines.
