Are you an ambitious researcher looking for your next challenge? Do you have an established background in the area of food safety nutrition and public health, and research experience in dietary health in the food system transformation in developing countries? Do you want to further your career in one of the UKs leading research intensive Universities?

The research programme is in collaboration with a large consortium of European and Southern African research, policy advocacy and development organisations. It aims to develop ambitious and inclusive visions of, and solutions for food systems transformation for achieving positive One Health outcomes in southern Africa. 

The research will develop a programme of research in Malawi, South Africa, Tanzania and Zambia, focused on evaluating the One Health outcomes associated with different pathways of food system change:

Diversification away from maizeChanges in land use and irrigationTransitions from domestic to export markets for fresh fruits and vegetablesDiet diversification

The research will bring together relevant disciplines inclusive of agronomic, food, dietary health, nutrition and food safety, climate, social, political and ecological sciences. Particular emphasis of this post will be placed on the understanding of the interlink of diet diversification food safety and nutrition in the context of food system transformation, and the impact on one health. The research will take qualitative and quantitative approaches whilst integrate with participatory research and stakeholder and policy engagement.
