We are looking for a Research Assistant/Associate to join ASCEND: Advanced Sensing & Connectivity for Energy efficient Next-generation hydraulic Devices.
The project is a close collaboration between an interdisciplinary team within Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Bath and industry, which aims to enhance the functionality of digital hydraulic systems through the integration of sensor networks.
The successful applicant will work on innovative design of components and valves used in digital hydraulic systems to facilitate the direct integration of novel sensors and energy harvesters. The sensors and harvesters are being developed by another member of the project team and the role will involve close collaboration to design and implement effective solutions made possible using additive manufacturing. The ideal candidate will have a core understanding of design for additive manufacture and recognise the importance of downstream processing such as surface modifications and computer numerical control machining.
We expected applicants to possess a suitable degree or PhD in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant subject area, as well as having research experience. Our ideal applicant will have:
